Thanks Brian. Do you have a recommendation for a gun with a smaller needle? Can't spend a ton but I'm thinking maybe that will help. Just trying to do whatever I can to make the next one go smoothly. I don't know how many more attempts I have left in me.

Most of the cheap guns I see these days all seem to have tips in the 1.8mm range. I used HF guns for a long time but they now all seem to have that same tip size. Check maybe Northern Tool or even Grizzly. I would recommend a gravity fed design, especially for metallics.

Thanks Brian. I picked up a two gun set at Harbor freight yesterday for about 50 bucks. It has a small gun with a 1 mm tip and a larger gun with either a 1.4 or a 1.8 mm tip. Gravity feed design like you said. I immediately use the smaller one for touching up some black paint on a headstock and it worked quite well. I am still prepping the other body for the gold paint so we'll see how that works once I get to spraying it.
