Red Heart Abalone originally donated by Dave Rector, is in today to start WEEK THREE 3 on the OLF SJ Guitar Project #2.

Check out some other pics on that forum and see all the ideas for inlays on this special guitar.

The basis for the rings was the inner dimension of the pearl 4.92 inches. I used the Dremel tool with a downcut carbide .094" bit. It required three passes with a little sandpaper cleanup after each route.

I'll hit it in the drum sander to bring the Sitka to .110 or there abouts tomorrow and begin bracing with Red Spruce.

Thanks, I might have put in more rings, but the mail was hard on the cardboard and busted up all the purfling. I had three pieces that were about 18 inches. As I was dampening one of them it failed, probably shipping fracture too. And one had to be lengthened an inch or so. I know where the joins are but I'm not telling.
