Well, I figured I'd better post some photos as a better introduction than just asking a question!!

This is my first guitar, walnut b/s, cedar top. I resawed the cedar from some old left over siding I found in my garage when we moved in. The house was built in the mid 1950's, so this stuff should be "seasoned". After being cut to length, the boards rang like a bell for at least 5-7 seconds, so I figured they were okay to use. I just hope I realize a little bit of their potential.

The shape is from a Grand Auditorium I think, I actually made the form a few years ago (been thinking about this for a while I guess). I am planning on using a 25.4 inch scale length neck.

The sides ended up thicker than normal, hope that doesn't matter too much. I just glued the top on this week and am pleased with the results.

I really am stressing on the neck fit though.

Looks great. That is a very nice B&S set. I love the way you used the cedar for the top. I think you are going to like it. And using pearl rosette and back strip...very nice.

Post more as you progress...and keep up the good work.

Very nice Pete only one thing I see I would change on the next and it is just a personal opinion, That being the rosette is maybe a bit too close to the sound hole. Certainly no structural issue just and visual one for me...Dang I never give a critical first review What in the world has gotten into me ... but rally very nice work

Yeah, as soon as I cut out the soundhole I thought "Uh Oh"

I thought about remaking the top, but thought better of it due the hassle I had making the rossette (gluing it in) in the first place.

I'm dying to hear it.

I borrowed a camera, and perhaps the lighting was muted a bit on purpose?? Seriously, there are some cosmetic issues I'll have to deal with, but all in all it's going along great; I'm enjoying it.

Good job Pete! My first was leftover Mahogany from a furniture job, and the pieces didn't come together into a guitar for 5 years! You've got a great start there, and this forum to boot! Don't be shy about asking questions here...between everyone here, there's no question unanswered!

One last thing... Before you put the lid on her don't forget to sign and date the top. That will make it a part of history.

Nice first effort there Peter.

Someone else mentioned the rosette inlay being very close to the
soundhole. In the photo there appears to be no reinforcing on the
underside of the top around the soundhole......of course the photo may
have been taken before you put same in.
