Technically, excluding the warmoth strat from parts (because that was essential finishing, wiring and assembly, little more), this was my first:




But I'm assuming y'mean acoustic guitars (for which I had the 'unfair' advantage of, erm, being able to do most of the work on the neck, 'cept the heel and the fingerboard extension issues, which are, like, the more difficult bits; electrics don't much help you with anything else), so we'll go with this one. It's my take on a Grand Auditorium (a la Taylor), 25.5" scale, Italian spruce (grade II top, cost me 12 bucks or so) top, EIR back/sides, Khaya (Afr. Mahogany) neck, ebony fingerboard, EIR bridge/headplate, maple binding, bwb purfling, london plane (a sycamore) rosette and end graft, finished in Target USL for body and headstock face, Shellac for the rest of the neck:

This is THE only image of my first build. I built it at Charles Fox's class in Healdsburg. When I shipped it home, UPS was so kind as to crush it. (I've got some seriously bad shipping karma).
So this is it, EIR, Sitka of Charles' SJ pattern. It was a pretty decent guitar.
BTW, that's Cameron Carr on the left (Charles' right hand man), me, and Charles on the right.

Here is my first. It was from an LMI kit.

Here's my 1st from way back in 2004. Englemann Spruce top with Granidillo back & sides & curly Koa binding. 12 frets to the body. It's a steel-string but with a classical-based body shape. It sounds better than I had even hoped.





I kept this 1st one and the 2nd one, but #'s 3 & 4, which are being built right now, are going to friends who thankfully are paying for the materials.

Here is my first...cedar top, myrtle B/S, Cocobolo binding, rosette, end wedge, mahogany neck that was pre-carved from LMI. The body shape was copied from my Santa Cruz F model. I really learned a lot! It took 9 months for this baby to be born.

Just thinking of posting mine again makes me sick to my stomach, i can hear the laughter in the background and i can picture those who are down on the floor banging their fist with pleasure! Here's my first and only, so far. BobC and Doug Kleist have provided wonderful tonewood for #2 and #3.

I first strung it up in the white early October 2005, tweaked, then dismantled for finish early Dec 2005, completed around Christmas. It was an awesome experience, with much help and inspiration from this crazy (crazed?) bunch. I had a big head start, since I used an LMI serviced kit, along with some repair, restoration and banjo building experience

I'm not near as brave as you Serge! You just jumped right in and, I'm sure learned a lot more from your build than I did from mine.

It ended up with a dark look, and as it turned out, a sort of dark tone, too.

EIR back and sides, sitka top, ebony bridge and tortoise binding from Martin, ebony fb, mad RW overlay and heel cap, gold MOP that I'd had around since the 70s headstock inlay, paua dots, Grover nickel Sta-Tites, Tort-Is pickguard from LMI, KTM9 padded on over shellac.

Pat the bracing on this top is exquisite. Makes me want to try one of these parbola type tops. MMM MMM delicious. Great work.
