Ron,

Nice to see your dread again. Awesome first guitar, especially from scratch! How's she sound now?

Bruce,

Thanks! It was the best part of the project, except maybe hearing it for the first time. Just looked at your site, was pleased once again to see that little L-00 you and your niece built. Sweet.

Pat, thanks for the kind words, i really appreciate it, the way i see her is like a struggle in the dark, but if it can only serve to tell newbies that everything is possible when you set your mind to it then it'a all gonna be worth it! Now for #2 and 3, i feel that i'm better armed and that i will aim at a bit higher goal. Maybe you all can understand why i was so excited when i found this place, it was like winning the lottery and even more, friends to share the wealth with!

In my heart, you folks are family!

P.S. To all of you guys, your firsts are just to die for and i'm priviledged to witness all of this

ThanksSerge Poirier38782.6954050926

Here's my #1. Built from scratch, as per Cumpiano, though the cutaway was from the Benedetto book. Finish is FP
Just thinking of posting mine again makes me sick to my stomach, i can hear the laughter in the background and i can picture those who are down on the floor banging their fist with pleasure!

serge,

I was banging my fist with laughter... but not at your guitar, which is beautiful, but at your post, which was funny. I can't help it, you are a funny guy. Nice work my friend.
I'm so embarrassed
Hey, Serge, the real embarrassment would be if you couldn't tell what was wrong! You'd be surprised how many people stop making improvements much too soon. I think you're gonna be taking giant steps forward with each new guitar.

BTW, I think we should kick J.Brown and Paul B. out of the club--they're startin' way too close to the top of the ladder!

My first, obviously modeled after a Gibson ES-335.

I left the top way too thick at the edges and didn't put a "recurve" near
the edge, which made binding dang near impossible. Near the neck,
there was too much top for the binding to cover! Also, it made the top
too thick for normal electronics, and the guy I had help me finish the
wiring counter-sunk the knobs without asking me (grrrrrrr). Also, I set
the bridge just ever so much short, resulting in having to max-out the
compensation abilities of the tune-o-matic.

The top is several laminated 1/4" maple boards, whose grain is oriented
45 degrees to the centerline of the guitar. Why? Because.

The body is a single piece (yes, ladies and gentlemen, one huge-ongus
hunk) of mahogany that was hollowed out in the wings and a solid center
block left behind.

The neck is a mahogany Warmoth bolt-on with ebony fingerboard. FWIW,
I highly recommend Warmoth. It's a fantastic neck, and a superb fret job!

Pickups are Seymour-Duncan Seth Lovers. Sweet, sweet sounding
instrument really.

Thanks, Pat. Every time I strum it I'm thrilled with the sound. Great bluegrass guitar.

The first time I saw your logo, I thought of Rick Davis's "Running Dog Guitars" a very similar logo.
