I've decided to enter the build if that's okay as an incentive to get me back into my workshop and building again :)

The guitar will be for my mate who's 50 next year!

I've chosen the back and side material which will be spalted English Walnut; this was from a tree that was felled and processed by a chap who lives about 60 miles away from me.

I'm not too sure which top I will use yet but it will be a Lutz from Mario Dacosta, who got me started into all this madness, many moons ago :)

The other bits and pieces I will add once I know what's what.

I will add some photos over the next week.

Let the madness begin :D
Dave

So in between decorating and laying a new floor here's the wood I'm going to use for the backs and sides :)

That is a nice looking board. Look forward to seeing what the back and sides look like.

Vavava-voom. Deciding just how to orient the back profile with in relation to that figure is going to be tough; there are a lot of good options.

So I've been thinking about the build in between doing work on the house.

The Walnut will be the something local part of the challenge. Something old will be some Honduran Mahogany that used to be part of a library that I bought years ago, I'll post the pics once I can dig it out. Something new will be the shape which will be a Grand Concert + a bevel which I haven't done before.

I will have a look at the fretboard and bridge but I think it will be EIR which will fit in with the colour scheme.

In the words of Hannibal I love it when a plan comes together:)

What did you do with the rest of the library?

I was only able to buy a few doors and cills from the frames Mike as the guy I bought it from had sold the rest :(
