Pretty wild, split in top, split in bridge, that's a shame. But very cool. I don't understand the scalloped fretboard.

The scalloped fingerboard requires less pressure to fret a note, sometimes if the action is low you have to roll your finger closer to the fret to get the string to sit correctly, with a scalloped neck you don't have those issues.

I've personally switched to jumbo frets for all my guitars (except the classicals) because players really really like the feel, it's easier to fret notes and makes the guitar feel "faster" and not 1 has noticed that the frets are jumbo's....

I don't even have any jumbo frets to try. I have two rolls of medium fretwire so it may be a while. Interesting observation Paul.

I'm wondering whether the guitar has a trussrod and, if so, whether it would be effective with the scallopped fretboard. Seems like there wouldn't be enough mass in the fretboard to resist compression from the trussrod to let the neck bow back.

Could be a two way rod Nelson. Just after I bought a dozen martin style, LMI reveals their martin style is now dual action. But I'd guess this is old enough it doesn't have a dual action rod.
