I had the pleasure of taking a small 2 hour guitar course with this legend in fingerstyle guitar. I let him play my #2, and he was impressed with the sound. His only criticism was the neck was not rounded enough. What an honor to have him touch my guitar. Can anyone guess who this is playing my guitar?

Man, I though I'd get this one! Don't recognise him though.

That's some great exposure for you though. Congrats Tracy!

Well I've been busy today, but chiming in late yes, LJ.

The clues? You said yesterday you were going to see Laurence Juber.

Second, the picture said LJ.jpg Laurence's initials. Right.

Third, well, all Taylor owners and most who have ever read the Wood and Steel newsletter would recognize him from the picture.

Congratulations, you are a wizard to have gotten it in his hands and got the photo to boot. Tracy, thanks for sharing this I know it's a high getting someone of his caliber to even inspect and play it. Very Very cool.

Okay, time to review the Ryan neck video..... grin.....

Ditto the congrats! One important thing to remember is that the neck was not rounded enough for HIM. This is a custom guitar built to your specifications, and you shaped the neck to suit you. That's the beauty of custom instruments. At least that is going to be my story

Thanks everyone! It was a great experience to just talk with him for a few short minutes while he critiqued my guitar. I'm not even close to being a Luthier, but he did seem impressed with the sound. I was thrilled to hear that. He was very curious about the woods that I used. So I explained what woods I chose, and a little about how I built it. It was a great experience. I learned something new also, that he did the guitar on Good Will Hunting, and does the guitar for 7th heaven, and used to do the guitar for Roseane and Home Improvement. He also did the guitar on 007 movies, I think it was #2. Also, he is one of the artists on the new Pink Guitar for Henry Mancini that just one a Grammy for best Pop Instrumental. I got him to sign some CD's also. I'm still coming down from the high. I also recorded the guitar lesson on MD with his permission. I'll convert it to CD at some point and will offer it to anyone who wants a copy. But it will take some time to convert it. Thanks for listening to me.

Thanks Bruce and Walter! Laurence now plays a custom Martin signature model. It was a adirondack top with brazilian rosewood, and cutaway. He said he was playing the prototype guitar, and one guy in the audience had serial#80 of his signature guitar. About the neck that he didn't like, actually, I don't like it either, so I did have to agree with him on this point. Thanks again!

Very cool Tracy! I hope you told him that the neck was made flatter to appeal to small-handed guitarists
