So I'm going to start using threaded. inserts and machine screws to bolt on my Fender style necks. Thinking bout 10-32 with 4 total. Why are you guys using for this application? Brass or aluminum inserts?

I use 10-32 screws.
I use steel or brass inserts. This guitar has steel.

Rookie question...

When you say inserts are you talking about inserts that are anchored in the actual neck? And if so what is typically used to glue them in, or are they even glued?

Not aluminum. Prone to galling, and also prone to corrosion causing seizing.

Conor. inserts that are anchored in the neck. The machine screws go through the body type with a grommet.

Yes. They aren’t glued in. The have sharp threads that screw into the hole.
