Anyhoo, I use two 1/8" x 3/8" CF bars in my bass necks in addition to the LMI-style double action double rod...the one with the thinner top flat bar on it. All I can say is that this has worked for hundreds and hundreds of basses.
This is a TRBSD double acting rod, is this it Rick, flat on top? $22 each from LMII.

Okay, this is the carbon fiber GRB4 currently on backorder for $11 each from LMII. 1/8th inch by 24 inch.

Lastly, what do you use to glue the CF rods into place? Epoxy?

Yes, that's the truss rod I use, and I get my CF in 6 foot lengths from Aerospace Composites aka "the Graphite Store", and I use the pultruded stuff.   I glue the CF in with thick superglue.

Thanks Rick, I'll post some pics a bit later. Your help is much appreciated!

What's up with the brass nut on the WAL neck? The customer ordered in an original string tree, but I don't have the brass nut and planned on using bone? What do you think about bone?

I used to use brass, in fact I probably started the whole craze around 1969, but I use bone now, and I can't really hear the difference.
