I have this Martin on my bench and ai can’t seem to reach the truss rod. The cavity goes in like 3” before I see anything. Inspection with a mirror shows what seems to be the rod but it doesn’t look like the insert for the wrench is in there. Any body k ow what the deal is with it? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

I suspect that this guitar may be like the other 1.3 million-plus Martins built since 2005, which have a shorter 2-way truss rod requiring a longer 5mm wrench. Do you have someone more familiar with modern Martins available to lead you through the setup process?

Yeah they're really buried! I bought a set of Allen wrenches that were longer than anything I had. My D-18 is a 2007 I think, and I use a 5mm wrench that has a shaft that's almost 5 inches long, when it is inserted it's only sticking out of the hole about an inch.

And the ball end wrenches are a huge help when trying to align things that you can't see.
