The guitar sounds great and so does the band. It must be pretty cool to see one of yours being used like that. That's an interesting mandolin. Do you know what it is?

Awesome. I can't wait to get home and watch it again with headphones on.

That is very cool. Even the video is well done. Nice sounding guitar. This is the second time this week I've heard this kind of music for the first time. Monday or Tuesday I listened to Mandolin Orange, on a video just linked in a post on a violinmakers site. That was over an hour. I'm used to ELP, Yes, and other oldies like Led Zeppelin, The Who and Pink Floyd; and new stuff like Coldplay, Switchfoot, MercyMe. The middle years are kind of lost. Most of the music wasn't any good! We had kids, and I was working.

I don't know what genre that is but now I have more music to look into. They might even be different. At least they weren't singing about bars, getting out of jail, and their pickup truck and dog. I grew up in Detroit. We had Ted Nugent, Bob Seger, and even Alice Cooper, I have some of his stuff. The drummer for Rare Earth lived across the alley from me. You could hear him practicing.

Hearing a nice recording of your instrument must be great.

That's great. If they ever get down this way, I would go see them perform.

"ELP, Yes, and other oldies like Led Zeppelin, The Who and Pink Floyd" All of those bands were on my listening list too in the 70s. If the style of music in the video and Mandolin Orange sounds interesting to you, then you might be interested in bands in that are categorized as alt-country or Americana. alt-country got going back in the early 90s when country music was going the way of Garth Brooks partly as a response to that. At some point, maybe in the early oughts, the term Americana came to be used more to describe it.

You might want to check out some classic albums from this genre:
Uncle Tupelo (album: Anodyne)
Son Volt (Trace, Straightaways)
Steve Earle (Corazon)
Gillian Welch (Time the Revelator, Harrow & the Harvest) her partner David Rawlings is a fantastic guitar player
Whiskeytown (Faithless Street)

There are a bunch more good bands in this style.

Heck, most of those bands are still on my listening list, though tbh I mostly listen to what is loosely described as stoner rock. Great drony shop music where it doesn't matter if you check out for a bit.

I've heard a few more songs of that band's record, it sounds really good, and the acoustic seems to be the main chug machine...

I'll find out about the mando if I can...

Nice, Ed!

Right on, Jay! I have a test for music of this genre - WWWT. What would Waylon think?

Love Steve Earle. If you like more modern “Americana” as well, look up John Moreland. He’s a self confessed Steve Earle junky and the dude knows what he’s doing. Listen to the album High on Tulsa Heat. He’s on heavy rotation for me for the last few years.
