I'm about to French polish a sitka top and want to impart a more "vintage"
i.e. aged look to it.

Until now I've only polished classicals for which I been using only the
blondest of blond flakes.

Currently I have "Blond" "Lemon" "Orange" and "Garnet" flakes.

Does anyone know of a magical mixture for the vintage, aged look?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Greg

Hello all, this is my first post here. When I french polish in color I
use different colors of transtint dyes mixed with alcohol. I keep the
dyes in little plastic jars with quirt tops so I can mix the color on the
fly by right into my pad. This is how I finish most of my banjo necks
and then I top coat with clear nitro. Check out the long neck and
little wonder necks on my site www.freiilicherguitars.com/
banjonecks.html.

Welcome to the OLF Louis, i just revisited your website and remembered your banjo killer dreadnaught that impressed me a lot the first time! Do you have any sound files with that guitar? I just love them loud dreads!

Good to have you here!

Thanks all! Serge, I don't have any sound files at the moment, but I
do have a small studio setup, all I need now are a few extra round-
tuits.
Just to keep on track here... the sunburst on the banjo killer was
done by mixing dye right on the bare wood and then blending with a
clean rag dipped in alcohol.
