I have a body that needs some rework, sprayed with em 6000. Do I need to sand to wood? Don’t want witness lines of course. Finish is several years old.

If you’re going to respray with em6000, you don’t need to remove what’s there. The new em6000 will melt in. If you want to make sure, wipe it down with a cloth damped in alcohol before you spray to soften the surface and make the bonding easier. To avoid witness lines, it’s still good to let it cure for 7 days or so before you level and polish.

I cannot remember if I ever had witness lines with EM6000. I have with Enduro-Var. Has anybody ever had witness lines with EM6000?

So, EM6000 is almost indefinitely repairable?

I've repaired sand throughs and chip outs in EM6000 a number of times and haven't seen witness lines. I didn't get around to fixing one of the sand throughs until about six months after the original finish application and the fix was invisible. The furthest out from the original application I've done has been about one year and those repairs were also invisible. I don't have first hand experience regarding indefinite repairablility, but since it works after a full year, I think it would be likely to work after longer periods too.

Well, the problem area is the top. Seems I developed a soundboard crack (I think). Gonna fix that, then just do the top. if its that repairable, edges should be ok. Its the Harp Guitar pictured on another thread. If u look, its clear the body finish is in great shape. The top crack is hard to see, but it is there.
