Anyone else finding OLF pages slower than usual in loading?

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Yep I believe it is server issues. I couldn't get on at all yesterday.

Thanks for asking, slow here also. I was fixing to reboot my wifi. Won’t bother now.

Not "back to normal" here on the west coast. Slooow. (But not as slow as yesterday.)

Yeah, I spoke too soon. It was fine for awhile, and now it is back to being unusually slow.

It sure would be great to have a system where many of us chip in and pay for more stable service. I would commit to that. Weren't there discussions of that at some point not long ago?

I think it's the affiliate links rather than Lance's server. Mine seems to stick on waiting for partnernetwork.ebay.com. But like Hans said, it's not as bad today as it was yesterday, so hopefully it will resolve on its own. In the past I've had similar slow loading but stuck on waiting for facebook.

It's OK for me on firefox, but I'm on satellite and that's slow anyway.

Yup! I was not having any problems at all, so I tried it with my AdBlock Plus chrome extension turned off. It got real slow!, Sorry to Lance, I turned AdBlock back on and all works well again. So if you use add block software to block the affiliate links the site is fast in the browser.

It has now gotten so bad that I have to click, then go do something else while it loads. Whatever/whoever is causing it, Lance should not put up with it. Slow loading will cripple any web-based endeavor.

Strange, I had trouble a few days ago but yesterday and today it loads just fine on my Win10 laptop. I do have AdBlocker running. Also no problems with Tapatalk on Android.

Again in Chrome I just shut off add blocker on the page and it still loads very slowly. I mean minutes. Turned ad blocker back on and it loads no problem.

Same here, no ad blocker

Too slow to be useful (brings back memories of the internet at 1200 bps). I get the same behavior with Safari and with Firefox and don't see any difference whether ad blockers are active or not. I'll come back every few days to see if things improve.

I haven't had any problems at all on my Mac, or my kindle fire. I have just so-so DSL. Not a geek so I have no idea how fast it is, be we don't have even half the fastest in our area. The violin site that I go on has been down a lot lately. Like now. Even free dial up from Kmart used to load! Photos could be a drag though.

Dead slow. Yuck. Whatever 'improvements' were made, rolling them back would be very much appreciated.

This link is taking a minute or so to load when page loads happen making it look like the system is very slow.

Code:
http://adn.ebay.com/files/js/min/ebay_activeContent-min.js
luthiersforum.com

My adblock plus disables it. In the developer tools I was able to test that is was this link that runs on every page load.

Motivated by John's post, I installed Adblock plus for Safari on my 3Ghz, 6-core i5 iMac. The last five pages that I loaded from this site took 18, 26, 24,33, and 23 seconds to load. To calibrate, I loaded a page from the Acoustic Guitar Forum. <3 seconds.

Wow. Nevermind. OLF is now as fast as any website -- at least on my computer. Thanks, whoever.
