Good evening folks, here's my rosette sanded down and levelled, then shellacked for the pics, Please Bear(())with me, lots if piccys

I had to use my this finishing sander for that delicate part, my top plates were too curved upwards at each end to be able to use my drum sander, i would have had to put presure on the plates with both hands and feed 'em forward on the table, wasn't comfortable enough to do it that way so i used my old tool instead!

Serge, that looks really really nice. The shellac sure popped the figure of your rosette.

I wonder if double side taping your top to flat piece of MDF would have kept it flat enough to run through your thickness sander. How much were the ends curling up?

Are you still going with the deep cutaway?
