I'm building a really thin guitar based on the old Epiphone Coronet (solid body). I'm splitting each humbucker coil set via a push/pull pot. I'm using CTS #450S 3910 because they're fairly well reviewed and quite short compared to most PP's.

I have a question. The tops of these have upturned "ears" that hold the body slightly away from the inside of the control cavity...or they are pressed into the body to further secure the pots - I don't know which is correct although I'm hoping for the latter as that allows the pots to fit in the body with about a 1/16th" to spare.

In the pic below, the ears I'm talking about are circled in the center pots.

thanks.

The upturned ear is designed to fit in a hole in the plate the pot
is mounted on so that the pot won't turn if nut gets loose.

You can press them into the body.

And CTS is great stuff, we consider it the best and have installed hundreds and hundreds of them with never a single issue.

I just clip those off with wire cutters if they're in the way.
