Haven’t posted a build for awhile so here’s a cherry and birdseye maple 00 that I recently completed on spec. Top is sitka spruce. Neck is cherry. Rosewood fretboard, bridge, rosette ring, and purfling lines. Schertler open back tuners (love them). Scale is 24.75”. Finish is amber shellac topped with Target EM6000. Fitted with a Prestige 330 surface mount pickup from JJB Electronics. I’m not great at describing how a guitar sounds, but I’d say this one has a nicely focussed, mellow sound. Enjoy the photos!

Fine looking build, like it!

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

I agree. Guitar looks great and the bridge is really striking.
