Hey all, I'm looking for a decent and reasonably priced source for Spanish cedar neck blanks here in the US. I've been most happy with both quality and price from Madinter in Spain but shipping to the states and CITIES certification add a pretty exponential cost. LMI charges nearly 3 times the price as Madinter and Hibdon hardwood's cedar blanks are a bit too narrow for my needs (they're 80mm and I prefer at least 85mm). Any other places to look?

Finding 85 mm on the shelf may be difficult. The bulk of neck material is processed from 12/4 stock (76mm). It’s probably worth contacting Allied or RCTonewoods — they might have oversize material that could be custom processed, but it may come at a price.

Of course, you could also consider laminating your necks, or adding “ears” to get the profile you want,

Thanks! I build classical guitars so ears and laminations aren't quite what I'm looking for. I just purchased 40 board feet of Spanish cedar from my local lumberyard which I've sawn into neck/heel stock but It's still a bit wet so I won't use it for at least 1, maybe 2 years. I'll give Bob at RC Tonewoods a call tomorrow. Allied as a rule seems to be quite expensive, not the end of the world for a hard to find back and side set but for a generic cedar neck blank I'll look elsewhere.

I’ve ordered a few times from GooseBay Lumber. The last piece I got from them worked out well, 12/4 flatsawn, for necks. Yup, mill your own.

I got a 4x4x30 one from sales@exoticwoodzone.com. They don't have everything on their website so I would email or call them.
They have some that are 4x3 but they don't show the grain direction on the site so ask before you buy.
