When I say what I am about to say, I hope you take it as a sign of how much I appreciate your willingness to do this sort of thing, and my eagerness to both watch and participate (at some level):

Does it absolutely HAVE to be Facebook? Using Facebook is what caused the technical problems last time, right? I was really looking forward to last time; I carved that time out on my calendar, and then it didn't work. And (please don't take this as a criticism, but just a fact to be recognized) there was not good communication about the backup plan in the moment. So, a lot of us who wanted to watch did not get the chance to watch.

Zoom is not perfect, but it works most of the time. I've recently had some good experiences with Microsoft Teams. In contrast, I've seen a lot of stuff go wrong with Facebook live presentations.

If you are completely on top of what went wrong last time, that's great, but if not, I think looking at a different platform would be a good idea. Again, I say all of this with appreciation for your willingness to do this, and eagerness to watch and participate.

Significantly different experience with Microsoft Teams here. Won't be using it going forward.
Zoom is so-so.

The thing with FB is, darn near everybody has it, and it doesn't take any effort to be a viewer/consumer. So that broadens the prospective audience. I don't know what the difficulties from the presentation side are, however.

Bruce Sexauer hosted a Zoom meeting a few weeks ago that I attended. It was for the Nor Cal Luthiers group but he opened it up by invite to about 35 people from all over. I'm not sure how many people can be on a Zoom call at one time, or how many you expect to have, but the Zoom thing worked out really well for the most part. IT works well for interaction between people. But if all you want to do is give a presentation then Youtube would probably be best.

Also Zoom requires a paid account to have a meeting longer then 40 minutes.

We've been streaming our church services on YouTube and it has worked quite well. I'm just a consumer and I don't know how you set it up though.

I have a Zoom business account, and I can host up to 300 participants in a single meeting. I'm happy to volunteer to host an ASIA meeting on a Saturday. I've hosted 100-ish meetings before; it can be done. Moreover, you can tape the meeting and post it anywhere you want afterward. Or, edit it so that you just keep and post the presentation. My wife edits video; I could sweet talk her into doing that after the meeting.

I'm not trying to hijack; I just want to offer solutions.

What a great opportunity. Thanks to everyone working to set this up.

Regarding platforms, we’ve been using Zoom for court hearings every day since June and thankfully haven’t had a single issue. I use Teams for a board I’m part of and really prefer the Zoom interface. Teams seems to lag between speakers.

Is the intention to be interactive? The YouTube Live feeds I’ve seen Areias broadcasts of one primary video feed. Users can use the chat interface to chat back and forth through text, but it isn’t an interactive platform like Zoom as far as I know.

In any event, this sounds really cool, and a great way for ASIA to embrace new platforms.

I'm heading down to Hunting Island SC tomorrow for a week of R and R otherwise I'd be there virtually. I'll be thinking of you as I watch the waves roll in drinkin' a margarita.
