I just strung this one up this morning. It was intended to be used as booth-bait at PNW guitar show circuit which of course are not likely to be happening any time soon. Oh well..

It’s Sitka over Black Limba, scale is 28” over 26.5”. The finish is Endurovar over Silvertip. The strings are a custom set consisting of .060, .052, .042, .032, .019, .015, and is tuned to C. It sounds very piano-like.

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Yes the fret slots are cut cnc.

It’s tuned a 3rd lower than standard pitch C, F, A#, D#, G, C

If get over this way again, stop in a play the fleet.

WOW! I love the simple, modern look. What blew me away was the belly. Is that like quilted, flamed Sitka, or something?

I like different. A multi-scale baritone would be pretty cool.

One more money shot, if you don’t mind. I would like to see the whole guitar from the front. Like what the audience would see. To get a good sense of the proportions.
