I'm sure I could find SOMETHING to place there, you're not trying hard enough. I have stuff right now on my small bandsaw table. Why? Too much stuff on the other 3 benches?

I'm in the middle of cleaning up, but then I find a bunch of stuff to do, and I went from 2 benches clean, and one to go, to stuff everywhere.

I did check the height on my benches, that work for me, and the bench I stand at using saws, planes and chisels; and the one I sit at doing fussy stuff, are just above the wrist high. The one that is adjustable that I use standing up for assembly, varnish, and drawing is just above the elbow high. 33 and 41-42 inches for a short guy like me.

I'm 5'10" and all of my benches are 38 1/2" high.

I don't know. That's just the way they came to me, and they work. One was my FIL's and the other was a new Sjobergs from Woodcraft. Maybe they think you might put a 2 x or 4 x under the legs? I'm 5'7" but have short legs. The workmate was 2 inches shorter!
I don't have any back problems, so all is good.
The tall one is nice for drawing, and assembly. For planing and carving arch tops or violins, the lower height lets me lean into it some. I put the front glass of a 4 foot long fish tank that leaked on the top of the old one. It is screwed to the wall but only had a small machinist vise that was pretty useless for woodworking. It is really where I should be varnishing so it is easy to clean up drips and spills. I put my plans under the glass so I can look at them, and not mess them up.

Ok so I’ve made some progress:)
I landed at 1 7/8”thick
I feel it’s going ok so far.
I’m a little intimidated about doing M and T legs... not sure what that part of the build will look like yet...
However.,,, I feel a LOT better now that I have a workable top!!!
