On one of the Apollo Missions (I think 11 but maybe 13?), NASA sent up a bunch of wood to see what zero gravity and zero atmosphere would have on the material properties, trying to determine if terrestrial wood would make suitable building material for future moon stations.
Being a government agency where the left hand knows not what the right is doing, this wood sat forgotten in a NASA warehouse until it was recently discovered beneath the lost moon landing tapes. Having had their way with it, they released it for sale to some exclusive outlets, myself included. So with this stuff, you can literally claim that the tone is ‘Out of This World’. Naturally the rarity carries a premium, but it’s certainly worth it!

I wonder if I’ll get a sale?

It seems buyers of hand-built guitars are always looking for some unique feature.
Jackpot!

I totally believe this! I'm so credulous I couldn't even see through the clear wood...

Sorry, but none of that matters. Was it harvested during a full moon?

I read it was launched on a full moon which is the important takeaway if I’m reading it right.

I've got some wood from a Kubrick soundstage. Does that count?

Barry Lyndon, too, so maybe an actor playing Stradivarius touched it once.

Those who watch HGTV's Home Town might remember the episode where Ben and his buddies went to buy a salvaged clawfoot tub from a junk dealer's "outdoor showroom" (i.e., the woods behind the barn). The owner said something about the tub coming from a building close to someplace that Hank Williams, Sr. had once visited. By the time the tub was installed, the tale had gotten a bit taller: It was Hank Williams' favorite bathtub.

My BS warning system starts jabbing me in the ribs, hard, when I hear anything about anybody famous having any connection to anything. That's the time to keep your hand on your wallet.

But that space lumber story is cool! I would totally buy some of that! :D
