Score! [:Y:] (as someone who has also been blessed in the past by the generosity of fellow OLFer's)

A coworker used to hit the Fleas on the weekend. He would buy dremels, keep the bits and bobs in the case, and sell off the tool for what he paid for the lot. I bought a couple of them from him. Dremels have their limitations, but for $10-15 dollars they're not a bad deal, and sometimes nothing else works as well.
