Bruce--looks like you have stabilized somewhat amigo. I think I'll quit worrying about you so much.
Let me comment on some healthy things I saw:

Bruce and Scott--It's a nice touch, having sawdust lying on the floor right next to the dust collector. Good for you.

Bruce and Doug...and Scott again--Another sign of a healthy mind is to have SO much stuff lying on the bench, that absolutely NO work can get done.

Lance--I like the mish mash of hand tools dangling precariously over that finished guitar. A slight gust of wind, a mere sneeze, and that top's history. Well done.

I look forward to seeing others, especially if you think you can top these guys. My money is on Scott's shop so far, as he appears to have the healthiest mind among us. I think he deserves a bucket-o-lard, don't you?

Thanks Bruce, I got a kick (and a relief!) out of this.

Steve

Cool! I think I have a spot left on my bench for it!

This is a great thread.
I was showing my 14 year-old son a picture here last week of someones guitar - it was in their shop. All my son said was, "Dad, his shop is a lot neater than yours."
You can be sure I'm going to show him this thread to night!

Rod, I never got that PM. My email works, and my phone works. And posting on open forum works.

Larry, that shop of yours is far too organized.
It might seem a mess to you, but study those earlier photos for some real guidance.

Oh!!! And Happy Birthday!!!

Steve, thanks for the HB...and you're much too kind! You shoulda seen my shop 2 weeks ago...it's still going from cabinet-furniture-storage-catch-all shed to dedicated guitarmaking epicenter!    (Of course, once it's all done, I'll have no excuse for my guitars not looking like yours...except my lack of abilities!)

Here's my messy upstairs bedroom shop. Haven't been up there much lately, as my day job has turned into a day, night, and weekend job lately.

OK, here it is-this is what my shop looks like at the moment.
In my defense I just shipped out 20 orders of wood,I am building a house, not building any guitars and at the tail end of a $78,000. mahogany library job.

Nice try Hesh, but no cigar! Whatcha building there?

I nominate Brad for the gold ribbon.

Alas, I haven't touched a piece of guitar wood in two months, but my daughter's room makeover is done, and after taxes.... woohoo!

Hesh, to quote Laurel and Hardy..."That's a FINE mess..."! That back is beautiful! Since it's right there handy, do you ever use toothpaste as a final rubbing compound?!!

Serge, I like your approach to shop, “Out of site, out of mind”, Right?

Brad I can excuse, given the amount of wood that goes through his shop.

I hate to say it but I think some of you guys wouldn’t know a “mess” if you tripped over it.
You guys and your white walls and evenly spaced machinery, through a few wood chips around and you think it’s messy!
Here is myn and this is busyness as usual.

Great thred by the way!

Wade

Man, this is really close, guys.
I was ready to recommend Brad's shop....
Until Wade and Elmer posted.
Now I think it's a toss-up betwixt those two.
How 'bout you guys?

Oh, and if I can get some shots of my mess, I'll post those later.

Steve

P.S. Brad--seriously cool jointer!

Hesh, Thats no lens effect, my basement floor is erupted. I have to turn my dust collection system on it to get anything up off it and it still looks dirty.
All my power tools are shimmed.

I hear ya Hesh,
I have arraigned my shop so I assemble my instruments from the “sweet spot” of the floor. I seem to get the best work done from there.

It is good to see how others are setting up there shops tho.
