Well, the top plates were sanded down to 0.113" , the soundhole was cut out and sanded around the edges, like Anthony advised, i put a couple of shellac coats and like Shane advised, i put my top plates in my sanding dish and had put weight on it! Man, when i reread myself, i sound more and more like an obediant student! don't ask me for sit ups and push ups tho!

Here are a couple of piccys!

sanded

self explanatory

soundhole edges sanded

Shellacked

resting in the 25' radius sanding dish

That was fun!

Looks like things are coming along nicely. I don`t even see a hint of that dent! Hey, save those cutouts. you might be able to make `em into wheels for the kids.

Looks good. A suggestion (maybe unnecessary) - if you are going to use a commercial shellac, make sure it is dewaxed.
I'm becoming a big fan of the stuff myself, but I've been
working with flakes.

Cool Serge! Moving right along!

I save the sound hole cutouts also. (Learned that from Dudenbostel on the Handmade Music segment) I write the serial #, model, soundhole size, woods used, etc. on it, and put them in a safe place. Got three so far!

Don't know that there is any benefit to it, cause all that stuff goes into an Access database anyway. But I thought it would be kinda cool to have a bunch of them...

Keep it up Serge!

Thanks guys, i just finished my push ups and think i'm gonna quit smokin'!

Thanks for the encouragement, cool idea to keep 'em cut outs with the specs of that particular build written on them, a string to suspend them or a board to display them sounds right also!

Jim, good idea, i don't remember if it was dewaxed or not, i'll check, Thanks!

Great job Serge. I have a suggestion if you know the size guitar and shape you plan to make. Go ahead and trim it to slightly oversize shape. Makes it a little easier to store and handle.

Cheers

Now that you've mentioned it I think it is time for you to give us ten. Right now, on the floor.

Okay, Okay, I'm only kidding.... or am I?

Many Thanks Folks, i owe you lots, yesterday night was just great and i felt more confident after repairing my bonehead move! Thanks Coe and Dave for noticing, i appreciate it sincerely

[QUOTE=Bruce Dickey] Great job Serge. I have a suggestion if you know the size guitar and shape you plan to make. Go ahead and trim it to slightly oversize shape. Makes it a little easier to store and handle.

Thank Bruce, you sure know how to keep me smiling from ear to ear! Good one! Thanks also for the supprt my friend

Yes Hesh and Kim, that's Shane's Lutzies! It's been about 2 months that i have them, i'm still lookin' at them with my eyes full of joy and admiration

Joe, please have mercy on this poor smokin' Bear!

Peter, it will be a dreadnaught, Martin style Herringbone , 25.4" scale, EIR back & sides, mahogany neck, maybe walnut headplate veneer, as you probably know, # 2 and # 3 will be gifts for my parents who both play guitar, my Mom had just started playing last summer! I hope the 2 guitars will sound great for them!

Thanks again to everyone for the support and encouragement, it just feels so great to share my baby steps with you!

Good step in the right direction, it looks like to me Serge.

I recommend you quit smoking, I did it 20 years ago, what fun. I recommend it to anybody that smokes.

Of course, I'm still smok'in, just not cig's!

When do we see the rest of your guitar?

Thanks Billy, i quit drinkin' 3 years ago so please let me smoke a couple more, otherwise your Bear will be writing 2000 posts a month instead of 500! That computer screen would become scorchin' hot!

I'm kind of slow for # 2, but as soon as i get a better pace, you'll be seeing that completed guitar!

Today, i'll be building my mould if i want to be able to bend 'em sides!

Cheers
