Cool! Nice looking woods there. Something very different then most of us here in the northern Hemisphere are used to.

Good to see you here! Got a real nice set of Tasmanian blackwood from you a while ago and getting ready to build a nylon string hybrid with it.

Botanical name for Huon Pine. Lagarostrrobos Franklin I, excellent for soundboard but more suitable for small body guitars.

Welcome, Robert! I spent a wonderful ten days on Tasmania, leaving just a few days before Oz was shut down due to pandemic. It's a place I think I could happily live, and I hope to get back someday. The oysters on Bruny Island were simply awesome (and I don't generally like oysters 8-) )

Dan

Hi Dan, pleased that you liked Tasmania as someone who has traveled around the world many times, I would have to say that Tasmania is one of the best places on planet Earth, and the oysters are to die for.
And if you do manage to visit again one day your welcome to call in for a visit.
Kind regards
Robert

Click on any of the species photos and it will bring up more information.
Timber names are strange named by the early settlers, there is a Tasmanian timber called dog wood smells like dog poop I reckon it’s easier to call them tree woods.
