After all the finish issues I FINALLY got it strung up and set up. I admit I’m a sucker for a short scale feel.
Sinker cedar over some real heavy purple heart ha. I was astonished how dense this stuff is:) maple binding.

Neck is hog. The finish is EM6000.
This one is going to my niece for Christmas:) just happy to keep it in the family:)

At build 25 things are going smoother than they use to. What still bothers me is my cut / joint tolerances. Things aren’t bad.. they are actually decent, but man I just need things to be soooo much cleaner:)
She’s not perfect but it’s better than my last one:)

I dig the H-E-double hockey sticks out of that one.
How's it sound?

I wish I could figure out how to do a sound sample.
I'm pretty biased because its like a newborn baby at this point, but I REALLY like how it plays and sounds. Its very warm from the cedar, but very balanced, maybe balanced out from the purple heart. I can say that the intonation is really good, the best I've had as of yet (I lose sleep over intonation ha). Happy you dig it
Thanks brother.

Sweet. Love it

The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Nice looking guitar with a nice round shape. Great looking cedar top too. I love purple heart, it is amazing looking stuff. Even when it changes color is looks good. I've had a board that I bought probably 20 years ago still in my wood stack and it's still purple today. Some day I hope to build with it. I was thinking like a harlequin purple heart maple back and sides.

Good lines. I like the cutaway, it is so easy to get that looking wrong with the rest of the shape.

Looks great, nice work!

I know how you feel about not being satisfied with your work; don't worry this looks great. I feel the same way. I always end up hating my project around the time I am doing the finish. After a while you stop seeing your flaws standing out the way they do when you are finishing and you realize that no one else will see them as much as you do. As long as we keep getting better with each one, we are doing okay.
