I have someone wanting me to build them a guitar with Mesquite Back & Sides.
Having a heck of a time findings supplier that carries it. Do any of y’all know of a source?

Thanks,
Mark

Gilmer occasionally sells Mesquite. Don't think I have ever seen any big enough to use for back/sides.
You could call them and ask.

Seeing that you are in Texas, there are some lumber yards in Texas that specialize in Mesquite. You might check with them for the wood, and see if they will mill it for you.

I myself live in TX and see tons of mesquite & what I believe is juniper slabs at trades days and such that local mills bring. It’s usually high moisture content flat sawn because it’s easier that way and high yield. I always stop an look and once or twice found a a piece that was rift or quartered accidentally. They probably would cut whatever you want for the $ but then you still have the curing issue. I have never seen mesquite offered pre dimensioned as a set any place though.

This fellow in Texas makes guitars using mesquite. He gets it somewhere. It couldn't hurt to contact him.

I knew that I had some in my stash, from about 20 years ago... Took a look today, and I've got some nice mesquite backs with some figure, like light pomelle. They measure about 21" long, 7.75"wide. I'll have to dig deeper to see if I have any sides, though.

That'd be perfect if you have some sides. Do you mind checking. Will definitely buy!
