Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

so happy to hear from you all. I hope you are have been well and life has treated you good. I look forward to start making siome nice guitarts now and ill update as soon as i have started. let me also know if you need some woods from here. I just bought some really nice local Mahogany look and feel just like honduran they say its called in latin Toona sureni. but i have no clue if this is that or not. but going by the feel and look its similar in texture and feel to honduran. They had 2 slabs that was many years old they said. 13cm thick 2,5m long. taken from the middle section of the tree so it has much quarter lines to it. SO i am good to go for some necks and back and sides soon , just waiting for the machines :-) ..

Question.. Does anyone have any good knowledge about a wood called Trembesi ? is this wood good for guitars ? amazingly looking wood they have lots of here.

Seems that it's Monkeypod.
Good looking wood, seen it used in quite a few guitars.

wow so nice to hear from you all. I am also honored to see you remember me and my guitars.. gives me big inspiration !! I have missed all of you. Yes i will start soon to build.. I married and moved to my wife in Indonesia. So i am living like in the Jungle here hhh. I am in an Islamd called Lombok. So beautiful here. and so much cool wood to choose from Maccassar ebony, Amara wood Monkeypod (trembesi) and lots of mahogany. Just cut of 2 13cm thick planks with bark still on sides 80cm wide and 2,5m long look and feel like honduran but its local mahogany Guess the price i paid for all this ? .....100USD including cutting them to workable pieces in the mill. (they charged me 6USD for it :-) bliss .

Waiting for a drumsander and have ordered some tools needed..
Does anyone know where i can buy a drawing of a sidebender machine ?

Again so so nice to be back and talk to you all again.
I will try to update with some photos from here as soon as i am up and running..

Lars.
