Surfs up!! :D

Started my 4th amp build this weekend and having a good time. This is a Fender clone a 1965 Princeton and these are legendary for being clean and bright which I could learn from.... :D laughing6-hehe idunno

The other three amps I built were so much fun I have been missing this for the last several months and I'm now happy to be knee deep in solder fumes (who needs offspring anyway...) and wire strippers.

Trying to take my time this time and have it last longer..... :? :D

Happy Sunday everyone.

I foolishly sold my blackface Princeton Reverb a number of years back. It was about 1965, but I can't remember for sure. It was one of the sweetest amps I ever had. What was I thinking???!!

Hmmm, there is no hole 22 and two holes are not numbered.

Did your tubes show up?

Steve

Hesh, you’re unstoppable. Beware those solder fumes though as they are known to be very toxic. A tech friend of mine ended up with cancerous cells up his nose and creeping up to his brain. He had to have some of the nose amputated. As for the brain… the jury's still out, unfortunately.

Take care of this, my friend. Get a fume extractor.

Yep it all came with tubes. I noticed that too on the hole numbering and double checked and that is what they show.

Good catch and thanks Steve you are right there was no 22 and there is now, I missed it. Thanks for this Steve much appreciated.

I typically do a few pages of work and then later int he day check the same pages a second time and put a second check mark there as my QC routine. Missed this one though. :)

So here's the actual Fleshtone logo the first one ever made like this out of stainless with black and brushed metal. I like it!

These are being made by Droplight Industries who is a great guy named John who has some very creative products.

Hesh, did this come with a spring reverb? The amp that I built several years ago does not have a reverb tank and I've always wanted to add one. Rather than modify it I have been considering building one like yours. I might wait until you are finished and can give a good report, be sure to follow up.

Yep it sure does it came with a Mojotone spring reverb tank and cover, etc. That was one of the reasons I picked this one to build next to get some experience with reverb. I'll let you know how it sounds when I get it done. These are legendary for being bright and clean so I hope the reverb sounds like the old Fender spring reverb too.

I'm confused... Is this a Stewmac or Mojotone kit?

It's both I think. I am purchasing these from Stew Mac but they are from Mojotone and Stew Mac has selected in some cases different parts such as the Jensen speaker. Some of the caps and wire my be different too but they are basically the same kit.

My belief is that these are customized Mojotone kits promoted and supported by Stew Mac. A nice marriage of two quality companies with both being able to do what they do very well. Stew Mac has the most solid documentation in the business with all of their kits ensuring success.
