After 26 years the original owner brought back 2 guitars he bought from me.
The 6 string was a cedar topped Dread with East Indian rosewood back and sides.
Back then I used a Spanish style neck joint.
This guitar was in great condition.
No splits, the action is within spec.(5/64” bass 4/64” treble)
The relief was within spec.
The neck angle is good sells been taken down about as low as it should go at this point.
The Lacquer in good condition ,I think back then I was using McFadden brand.
Had some wear on the frets of course so I polished that out and put a new set of strings on it and it should be Good to go for another 26 years .

The 12 string was another story. When I built that guitar I was still learning the craft and the neck angle was not correct so the action was high from the onset. So it only got worse so I need a neck reset but since I had a Spanish style heel the only way I’ve heard to do that is to cut the neck off and make it into a bolt on.
So that was the plan but turned out the heel was really too slender so I ended up making a new neck for it With a dovetail joint.
One of the interesting things was I had an engraved inlay with my name in it in the head wish I wanted to transplant to the new head.

Nice save on the inlay. I’ve done it before - fussy and time consuming work.

Good work Brad.

You don't have to cut the neck off to reset a Spanish heel. Just open up the back seam down to around the waist until there's enough flexibility to rotate the neck back. Obviously that entails at least a partial refinish, and is more difficult with back binding, but it's still easier than making and finishing a whole new neck plus carefully transplanting an inlay.

Yes, that’s what is known as “slipping the heel“. I am quite familiar with that method as I have done it several times in the distant past.
I stop doing it because it tends to distort the sides when you pull the neck back also the tongue of the fretboard will dive down as opposed to when I do the neck reset and I put a wedge under the end of the Fretboard.
