Has anyone been in touch with Depaule supply?
I have been calling them for weeks and leaving messages, also email with no response.

I have been buying from them for years and they are the only game in town as far as pre-cut vines etc.
They have great products and are usually very responsive.

Andy DePaule is active on the Steel Guitar forum, so he's around. I do recall hearing that he was moving back to Oregon from Saigon if I'm not mistaken. That could be slowing his replies.

I will say that their service has gone downhill. I've emailed and called with slow or no response. My last order was filled, but it was slow and there was never an order confirmation of any sort. I ordered three letters for a client PAX. All three were different heights which made them unusable. Disappointing, for sure.

The Problem is I can’t order from them if I can’t talk to them. They were out of stock on a particular item and it doesn’t show that on their website so I already went through that once - I ordered it and waited two months I didn’t get although they had my money the whole time…

I’ll say I did order something from them a few months ago, was never notified it was out of stock … just didn’t get it for a month or so

I ordered from them about a month ago, and received my order. Sam was contacted thru text, not email. I was a little surprised by this, but it seems to work for him, and worked for me. He responded about items in stock (everything I ordered was), & sent them. I also had other questions, and he returned texts in a timely manner.

I got some things recently that I had to wait for from Vietnam, it took a while. Prices are up significantly. Still good stuff though.

Hello fellow OLF'ers!
I have been using DePaule inlays for a long time now, and was concerned about the recent posts regarding service levels.
Certainly I have experienced delays in the past two years, but my orders have been processed quickly and have arrived eventually.
I sent the link to this thread to Andy DePaule who had this response, (and approved of my posting it)
I am sure things will get better there soon!

Hello Rob,
Thanks for the link and I should pay more attention to the luthiers forum.
I’m aware of the problem especially with US orders.

Had a long talk with Sam yesterday about this very subject.
He just returned from a 6 month stay in Mexico a couple of weeks ago.
He’d trained one of his friends to do the shipping for him and I never had much faith in the fellow to be able to handle the job.

Sam also agrees it’s time to take back control of the shipping.
He also needs to get a lot better about responding to e-mails and phone messages.
He will be letting the fellow go and take back control of shipping again this next week.

Right now I’m back in Saigon for a month, but will spend the next two years back in Oregon helping to get things re-organized so no more being semi retired for me for a while.

When I gave Sam & Buddy the US side of the business ten years ago they had it under good control. I have not had any financial or other part in that side of the business since then.
I’ve only retained the overseas business which id only about 15% to 20% of our total sales. I also oversee our workshop and shipping from Saigon.

I know that using the Covid as an excuse is getting to be a way to avoid responsibility for many companies. That is not the case with us here in Viet Nam where the authorities have been very strict with lock downs and other failing methods to control the spread of the virus. To my view that was quite predictable/
We have had to contend with three major lockdowns when we were not able to get our artists to our workshop anytime there was an upswing in cases.
Even the post office here had closed a few times for a month or more. FedEx, UPS and other express shipping companies only served their big accounts which we are not one.

The main company we used did ship our products with the exception of South America because of a lack of available flights.
They also do not do our shipping to the US because they do not provide for Customs as well as US Fish & Wildlife clearance. For that we need FedEx.

There were also some times when it was taking a month to ship our workshop products from there near Ha Noi to our Saigon shipping office. In normal times that is overnight or two days.

Well here I am getting long winded, sorry. This has been a concern for me for some time because I don’t want to see us loose what was a good reputation.
Thanks again for the link,
Andy

I don't mind waiting...
I wait months for certain items, but at least they tell me something-not used to doing business this way.

Yah, it's been a month since I ordered my stuff. I emailed them today (to the emails on their website) and I got a prompt reply from Andy. He's CC'd his staff stateside and I got a USPS notification later that day.

Sounds like things might be kinda tangled up over there. Love there stuff, hope he can get it all figured out.

Yes, I got a call from them saying they got the item I ordered and will be shipping it out this week.
