This has absolutely nothing to do with guitars but it's worth passing on.
Go to Google download a program called Google Earth, install it and type in any address in the world start with your own. You will be amazed with the satellite photography available. the bigger the city the better the resolution.

Isn't it great?! I do a lot of powerpoint projector presentations and can't help but bring that up on a regular basis. Without fail, people just freak out when you zoom in on their house then pan up and fly around their neighborhood. Crazy!

Wish you could see in real time, imagine seeing Ron Wisdom's armadillo in his brother's yard!

I wish!   I've spent way too much time messing with google earth. It's really neat. It's also really scary, as every potential terrorist in the world has access to it.

Hey, Serge
Go to Beebe, Arkansas on google earth. Look around for a group of red topped buildings. That is the school where I teach, I'm there now. Then try to find these coordinates:

35dg06'51.71"N and 91dg54'05.42"W    try an altitude of 1443ft.

That is right on top of my house. Long driveway, squareish brown (log) house. Bright shiny shop to the north.
The driveway and house (partially hidden in the trees)just below (south) that is my brother's house, just below that is our 3 1/2 acre bass pond.

Let me know if you can find it.

Give me your coordinates so I can see where you hibernate.

When I type in my address, it's all fuzzy. The golf course across the street is crystal clear but the neighborhood is bad. Any thoughts?

Paul...I suspect that a large portion of these images are taken by airplane with the intent of creating topographical maps, and combined with the satellite images for this site. I could be wrong though...

There is only one day per year where the sun as at just the right angle for airplanes to take steroscopic photos which can be used on a special piece of equipment (digital stereocartography) to create accurate drawings which are used by state DOT's and engineers for developing areas etc. It's fascinating stuff. I almost had the opportunity to learn how to use the machine...it would have been fun...

It's more than possible that those areas are the ones with the highest resolution. But as I said...I could be wrong.

Paul, that's caused by the fumes from the nitro you're spraying. Cut it out.

Seriously, google doesn't have high resolution for all locations. If you zoom in too far, the lower resolution photos just get digitally stretched, and end up looking like that image above.

Ok Ron, i saw your school and your home, pretty cool place BTW, LOTS OF SPACE WHEW! try mine, here are the coordinates: 45 dg 27'44.23dg N
                    75 dg 44'36.03 dg W

I live inside those 5 huge buildings near the Highway, north of Mont bleu Boulevard, oh yeah, when you make your search, type Hull, Quebec, it's an older picture, i live in the bottom left of those blocks, disposed somewhat in a triangle shape

Here are your home and mine, i hope they come out all right!

That is a good idea.

Frankly, I find this whole thing kind of disturbing.

Good job, Serge! Right on the money. I live on the north side of our family land. My two brothers and my sister also live there. All together we have about 135 acres, mostly wooded. Been in the family since 1900.

Also notice that my grass is greener than my brothers, because I keep mine mowed.

I found your place, Serge. This is really neat. Is that a pool or a tennis court in your back yard?

I could see a trail of sawdust leading to your door.

well this is kind of OT from this OT topic, but I thought I'd share a flight track with you, My wife and I fly paragliders when we can. It creates and releaves stress all in one. Anyway the image is of a cross country flight my wife took in valle de bravo Mexico. It was about 14 miles from the launch to the landing, she covered about 42 miles in doing so. About 2hrs and 15 minutes, her top altitude was just over 13k feet. About 8k over the land in that area. By the way, the track is created with a GPS we carry overlayed onto google earth..

The launch is on the left, all the crazy zig zag lines are riding thermals to gain altitude. About 2/3 over to the right is one heck of a thermal that took her over 13k.

this ones me coming into land in santa barbara ca!!

ok, back to guitars for me now.
Mike

Ron, yes, there is a tennis court facing the back door of our appartment building, as a matter of fact, my shop is right there! Just can't hide anything from a teacher right? Ron, as you can see on my pic, you'd understand i would envy you for the amount of trees in the back yard eh!

Mike, thanks for sharing those awesome pics, makes me want to try this one day! Serge Poirier38818.7069907407

serge, I can honestly say there is nothing at all like it in the world. Flying around thousands of feet above the earth, feeling every bit of turbulence there is, but with a view that can't be beat. At times circling with eagles, hawk and buzzards litterally feet off your wing tip. Its quite the feeling to find a thermal core all alone and to see an eagle 1/2 mile off come over to share the thermal with you. The experience puts the world and life in a whole new perspective. I could write forever about it, but won't I'll just keep on

Thanks for sharing those great moments Mike, i heard of a guy in my province who does this with a little engine and propellor attached to his back but i love your way better, the peace and tranquility that you must get and making one with the wind must stay forever in your heart and soul!

Should be a great thrill to feel that kind of freedom way above the earth, i'm sure no one is thinking of earthly problems up there!

Really cool!
