My favorite client has had a mishap with his guitar. I replaced the top back around the first of the year. This may be a result of the same incident that destroyed the top. It did not, however, show any signs of damage at the time I went over the guitar after doing the top replacement. Anyway, he can't come home until Thanksgiving, and he'll be stuck using one of the school's loaners until he can get this fixed. Shipping is so expensive and unreliable, it might be about as cheap to get it repaired locally. I don't know anyone, but thought you guys might know of someone who could do this in the Cleveland area.

Dunno about Cleveland but I hear there’s a guy down in Athens who is pretty good…

Hi Waddy, that's unfortunate!
You might reach out to Guitars International. I believe they're in the Cleveland area and I would guess they would know someone.

Lots of the shops that I know are booked to the limit and have been most of the pandemic. We are too. Shipping her home and doing it yourself may be the only option if you need a vetted, trusted repair shop right now.

From what I can see it looks like the wood broke not glue failure but I only have one pic to go by. I'm curious since you had to replace the top too what the heck happened to this beautiful guitar Waddy?

He grabbed an unlocked case rushing to class! I didn't notice anything at all when I was replacing the top, and he played it all Spring and Summer without issue. That said, I have no idea if it was knocked over somewhere that he didn't mention.

Jason Vieaux, his professor, said to take it to Frederich Holtier, who I think is involved with Guitars International , somehow.

I'm behind on information. He took it to Holtier this weekend I guess, Got it back today! Said all is fine now. Not complaining.

So many have learned the hard way to always do at least one latch on the case. :(
