I did consider the vertical model. It would save a little space, but it is a much more physical tool. Some of my molds get heavy and it seems easier for me to do things horizontally and let gravity do the work. I think it is a little easier to see what's going on too, looking down on the dish. I suppose it is all in what you get used to. That is an impressive vertical model with the dust collection. Luckily I live rurally in an always warm climate and can just run the spinner by 1 of my sliding doors with a fan blowing the dust outside. I don't have room for a permanent space to park the unit and run dust collection to it. I do have dust collection to all my larger stationary tools, but still a fair amount of dust manages to escape collection. My bandsaws are the worst. Difficult to collect the dust from them. At the end of the day I open all the doors and get out the electric leaf blower. Works pretty good if you do it everyday.

Bob find Sam Guidry on Instagram or FB he is an amazing luthier, he's been documenting his journey with engineering a spinning radius dish. Really good info.

Micheal that is some wonderful engineering. You must have some great jigs in your shop.

It’s a bit off topic, but the stupidly big radius board I got from Canadian Luthier supplies makes such short work of the job that I’m not even thinking of a motorized one anymore, lol, which I fantasized about for years…

Seriously, though, the Canadian Luthier Supply dishes are pretty thick and hefty. Very good value.
