The name catgut is confusing. There are two explanations for the mix up.

Catgut is an abbreviation of the word cattle gut. Gut strings are made from sheep or goat intestines, in the past even from horse, mule or donkey intestines.

Otherwise it could be from the word kitgut or kitstring. Kit meant fiddle, not kitten.

Yes indeed! I hope everyone gets what they want. For me it’s family time, shop time, maybe a new tool. We’re in the middle of a crazy week of weather that will have -16 on one end and 60 on the other. :D

Not having to go into work, Christmas sneaks up fast. The entire year went by in about a month. I thought the storm was a dud. Wind? Oh yeah. Cold? Oh yeah. Snow? Not much. It's too cold for snow that piles up. But no sun to dry varnish.

Ken, Funny, We are not that far away from each other but I am closer to lake Michigan than you...

We got DUMPED on... Looking out on my deck the snow is about 18" and drifts next to my house are over 2 feet. Sucks to be me... laughing6-hehe

Fortunately I have someone that plows my drive so I don't have to shovel.

Merry Christmas and happy holidays! The first normal Christmas Eve in several years, and with my grand babies all seemingly in a race to exit childhood as quickly as possible, I am making the most of the time with them!

While I suspect that 2023 will at least try to make 2020-2022 look tame by comparison, there are still a couple days of relative calm left in the old year, and I hope everyone gets a chance to slow down a bit and savor this time with family and friends.
