I've had a lot of problems with the older ones and SM replaced them no questions asked but so far the newer ones seem to be holding up well.

I had built one of their Klon pedals a few months back and has some issues with them. Emailed and had a response within hours to send detailed pics of the circuit board so they could send it to a tech. Next day they got back to me with the fix. So in this particular case you would not even be able to have that kind of service on the phone.

I think a lot of us here are old enough to remember when you HAD to pick up the phone and call SM to make an order and I get that it was nice to talk to a human but those days are gone for most businesses now. I prefer email for it's written record and the fact that on the phone i often times forget what I want to say (getting old :) ) and with email I can take my time.

This sums it up for me: the forgetting what I was going to say especially - I love having an email record, and I also personally don’t like talking on the phones much.

Hey, it's fair game.

I had a small hiccup with StewMac a few days ago, but they responded promptly (via e-mail), and after an initial "no" to what I wanted, they later said "yes". So, it all worked out. And shipping from StewMac for me is literally a one day turnaround in most instances. I still order from LMI when they have what I need, but the shipping takes a few days longer.

Both are valuable and appreciated vendors for me. Happy to do business with them, and others.

Agree with the OP. And with SawStop’s great service. It matters to me and many of my woodworker friends. I’ve had poor luck with StewMac. When someone called me back, much later or the next day, it was a sales tech who could only answer questions from reading info on the web site.

Not so with LMI. The times I’ve called recently, I reached sales or tech help very shortly after one number option, and every single time someone in sales knew the answers to my questions. Well done!!
