Thanks again to everyone who was able to join today's roundtable meeting. We had a smaller group this time so we actually ended in 1 hour! :) Was great to see everyone and hear about what you're working on. For the next meeting I'd like to propose we talk about recording instruments. If you would like to share your setup, what you've found that works for you, or just general questions on recording that would be great.

Don Parker will also give us a nice walkthrough as he has experience in this area. Thanks, Don!

If you would like to submit anonymous feedback on topics, experience, etc... please fill out the form here - https://forms.office.com/r/HHEni87fAP

Highlights:

What's on the bench:

Craig Wilson - 1:15 - Working on #12. Shared experiences with neck removal on an archtop using the foam cutter from Amazon. 10 minutes and the neck was off!

Brent Tobin - 10:28 - 00 on the becnh. Shared approach to managing top using peones / tentalones. Shared experience with a new supplier in Quebec called Bolduc. They are in mostly piano circles but offer wood components and glue suitable for lutherie - https://shop.pianosbolduc.com/collectio ... components

Ken Nagy - 17:30 - Getting over the cold, back pain, knee pain in order to get starts on an impressive 15.5" archtop! Continuing with the varnishing of the cello. Details about making what is a beautiful vihuela rose!

Don Parker - 35:00 - Working through adding a refrigerated air dryer to the finishing setup. Landed on a Saylor Beall found on Craigslist for a nice discount. https://www.saylor-beall.com/wp-content ... Dryers.pdf Also, I convinced Don to help us with tips for recording instruments in the next meeting. :)

Brad Combs - 46:15 - Shared experiences of working with cross hatch tool and doing adhesion testing on finishes.

Craig shared with me some details about the foam cutter approach. See below:

There are two links here, one for the foam cutters that I used, and one for the long 2.5mm drill bits needed to reach the bottom of the dovetail. The link will bring up Amazon Canada, just FYI.

Here are a couple of photos of my setup, before and after.

Thanks, Craig for sending the details!

Good to see what you guys are doing. I have done no building this month, lots of music prep and performance around Easter plus had a couple of guitars to work on. Looking forward to the acoustic recording session, I can use some help there.
