Wow!!! My friend, that is absolutely MINT!!!! That Koa is something to dream about for sure... Perfect execution, as usual. I like that bridge profile.... Looks very promissing. I can't wait to see the whole thing strung up.

Tony's room looks like a meat locker for guitars...

OK, stupid newbie question: Are these guitars being finished with the neck on the guitar? I was under the impression, although I don't know why, that most necks and guitars were finished separately so that if a neckset ever needed to be performed there would be less of a chance to "break the finish" near the heel/side.

Could someone educate me. Thank you.

I agree with the crowd. I am afraid that a burst would detract from the beautiful wood on the back, sides, and binding. The top serves as a counter point of simplicity that offsets and sets off your other woods.

BTW, great looking guitar!

Thanks for the details. I feel like a news reporter yelling, "I'd like to ask a follow-up question!" So here it is: prior to sending this guitar to Tony, did you handle the taping chores, or did he? I ask because the tape is different colors which kind of implies that he did the fretboard, and you did the bridge. Also, and this is a guess on my part, I believe the OLF message is delicately written on the bridge tape. (Took me hours to find it).

Just a thought on your FB extension and not taping it off. a few times I have forgot to do this before finishing. I have found the easiest way to do this is with a dremel like Tim M does for his bridges. You set the bit so that it just removes the finish. It is so much easier and less nerve racking than doing this job with a scraper or chisel.

So if you forget this again it is pretty easy. Attach the neck and run masking tap along the edges of the FB extension. Then you scribe inside the tape (1/32-1/16")with a sharp knife. Route inside your scribed line with the dremel. Make sure the dremel base is riding on masking tape not the finish.

Easy as pie.

Hesh what a beauty that is. I'm going to go against the majority here and vote for the Lance sunburst. Very subtle but awesome in my eyes. Nice snakewood too.

WOW what a beauty.. Fantastic work as usual. That snakewood binding is gorgeous. I usually vote for sunburst, in this case it should be light if at all the guitat does NOT need anything. Ok, it needs the "hi olf" sign removed when the bridge goes on , but thats it. See someone noticed. By the way you said you had 6 plain jane guitars at home, I guess you have not shown those on the olf, cause so far all I've seen are works of art! I still get a kick out of their place of origin.. Toilet guitars each and every one of them . Your work is an inspiration.
