Just got this in my email.

Wow - it's weird to actually find a photo of one's work here unexpectedly! I do frequent this forum to "borrow" ideas and ask a stupid question from time to time, but have not had the nerve to post any work - I just make way to many mistakes!

The photo I sent Jason shows the back of my sixth guitar (made for my daughter) - and yes, each has it's own unique screwup. I tell myself "it wouldn't be made by me if it were perfect". Still, I love making these things, just wish I knew how to play!

Jason, I actually met you on the other "luthierforum". I purchased this wood from you two or three years ago along with the archtop set (used on the guitar on your website). As a plug for Jason - you can all see how nice his wood is - absolutely beautiful!

I'm glad you like the wood but without you guys (insert napoleon dynamite voice) using your "skills" it's just a chunk of wood "it's no good for firewood, too hard to split"

For those of you who never visit my website (ShAMe On YoU!) here is some more of Ray's work

Ray,

Yeah, join us more often! I thought there was something familiar about the photo posted here. I went back to Jason's site and, sure enough, there was the back of that cool lookin' archtop. There's definitely a family resemblence. So, Ray, it's time to hit us with a "full frontal" view--don't be shy!!!

Aha! As I was writing the above, Jason added the extra archtop photos . I really like the D'Aquisto influence. Very nice! Now, show us that flat top!CarltonM38822.0243171296

Wonderful work Ray, those are awesome guitars!!! But next time you send Jason a guitar, he would probably prefer you use a courier to send it rather than e-mail, I know I would!

Thanks for sharing....

Shane

Guys, Thank you so much for the comments. Just so you know, I'm from Elmhurst, Illinois - a western suburb of Chicago.

The guitar that Jason posted is a nylon string SJ cutaway. 650mm scale, sitka/englemann spruce top, maple back and sides, macassar ebony fingerboard and bridge, zebra wood accents, and ebony bindings. Body is wedged ergonomically . Here are a few photos of the completed guitar:

Lots of mistakes, but it was fun to build. This is my sixth guitar and I think that I may actually be getting better at this.

Thanks for looking,

Ray

Ray, now, you're just tryin' to make us feel better, right? That's a sweet looking guitar! Was that a commission, or done just for the heck of it? Thanks for posting the extra pictures. What's your next project?

P.S. Ya likes yer maple, don'tcha?
