I just thought I'd share a few pics of what I've been working on. This is my first custom ordered guitar. It's really been fun doing it. The customer has been very particular about everything, but I like that. He picked out the wood he wanted me to use at LMI. It's some pretty nice stuff. The finish is curing, it has not been rubbed out.
Bear claw german spruce top. Coco rosewood back & sides. Snakewood bindings. We ordered a custom case from Cedar Creek. It is very nice. The pics are not very good.

Colby,

Bearclaw European spruce ... yum, yum. It's my very, very favourouite and the sound is wonderful.

Looks a very elegant and curvy guitar and the snakewood looks very nice too.

What size is the guitar?

Thanks Guys!
Yes, that is a shape I came up with. It's what he wanted, we kind of worked together on it. We're calling it a modified Nick Lucas.

Great looking guitar Colby, awesome job on the inlaying, love the coco and the snakewood peghead overlay too.

Don't ask me why but i also love that Bear claw spruce top!

Nice work, Colby! Don't let your customer see the photo with the floral reflection in the back--he'll want it as an inlay!

I agree--that's an appealing shape. Could you share some of its basic dimensions?

Colby,

Very, very lovely! Really beautiful looking & excellent workmanship. Your wood choices are a terrific combination!

The only problem is you're already building what I had planned to build next ... before I even get a chance to build it.

Really, I also have planned a slot-head with the old Martin "torch" peghead inlay & traditional snowflake fretboard inlay. I'm looking forward to building it & thank you for the early preview. I'll be using curly walnut back & sides, curly maple binding & a cedar top in a 0 or 00 size & shape.

I think those traditional pearl appointments are very elegant. Martin got it right that time! And so did you. Great looking guitar.

Thanks for all the nice comments guys.

Larry, you better not even think about quitting. Your guitars are at least as good as mine, probably better.
