As some of you know I am working on switching over to vacuum for bridge clamping intially, and I would at some sttage like to add a workholder.

I have seen the LMI System on there site and wondered what does the Manifold do ?

Russ,

The manifold is a piece that allows attachment and distribution of your vacuum lines. The LMI manifold will accpet quick connectors (Pisco connectors), vacuum gauge, pressure relief valve, etc.

It's a very straightforward setup...you attach your vacuum source to one end, your relief valve and gauge in the middle, and a Pisco connector on the other end that connects to your vacuum fixture.
