It's called a red ruler! Now if you would just get that metal scrap out of the way, I might be able to tell you who built it. I'm guessing a guy called Stanley maybe?

That's what routes the relief around the edge of the soundboard on Taylor guitars...

The bearing registers against the edge and the metal above the cutter bears down on the top surface reducing blowout.

I guess I shouldn't "guess" since I was with Bob when he received the first prototype and used it on a few tops...

Just kidding! I have no clue what that is... Sounded good for a little while though huh?

Nice Ronn,

I like that. I was like, ohh...really...cool he was with Bob. Negatory. Had me
going. I know others were thinking the same but I'm sure they won't let you
know.

And sorry, I barely know what a chisel looks like.

Looking into my extensive book collection , I have found this exact tool. It is listed as a thingamabob. While it can be confused with a thingamajig and a whatsadat , there is a slight difference. Only real tool pros know the true differences between these.
At first I thought it could have been a wingwang , the reference manual did set me straight.
   Education , nothing like it
John Hall
Ps this is used to remove wood or matterial , usually from where you didn't want to remove it in the first place

Looks like an alignment tool to get your weasel davit aligned correctly in the frang rim. Where's my tub-o-lard?

You put it in your variable speed drill and by changing the RPM's you can send messages to a tribe of aborigine in Australia, or to John Mayes.

Is it a part of the Terminator that would have gotten it an X rating in the theaters?

I'm guessing it's used to cut a binding or purfling ledge?

Ron, Ronn, John, and Don, you got it, a binding or purfling ledge cutting tool, the luthier had a machinist make for him. Tub-o-lard all around boys!
