We have just finished another semester of guitar building and I thought I would post a few pics for those interested. I will let those students who want to post their own pics of the guitars.

WOW...What a great setting for learning! Your students look like they love what they're doing...and from the looks of their work, it's no surprise.

Oh...if I could only spare the time, I'd sign up in a minute.

Robbie, you should be very proud of your school and mentoring effort.

Wow, are those 1st guitars? They look great, and some of those look pretty ambitious for a 1st.

Robbie,

It must feel really great to be a guitar maker midwife (midhusband? ). You must feel really good!

Lots of pretty newborn "babies" and proud/pleased looking "parents" (and future OLF members) there. keep up the good work.

Brock, Those are all first guitars with the exception of a few second guitars. I have some really good and talented folks in the classes that might give us all some competition one day.

Wayne, My classes are held at Red Rocks College in Lakewood, Colorado. This is about 15 minutes west of downtown Denver. I give two classes (classical and steel string) per semester. If there ever where enough interest I could also do an intensive summer course as well.

JJ and Dave,

Thanks for the compliments! I take this stuff very seriously and love seeing the look on people's faces when they have a copmpleted instrument. It is a real rush indeed. Some folks like Mike, J, Karen, Shawn Brandon, Kevin and a few more I might have forgotten are hooked on the OLF now.

My question exactly! Looks like you know a bit about marketing too Robbie!    I'd love to come out and study with you sometime...if the airline goes, I have lots of time, but if the airline goes, I have no $$!

Keep up the good work tho...your efforts show in your students' work and their faces!

Hi Robbie. Do you teach this class at a school or is this a class you do at your shop? If thats your shop, that is one heck of a set-up you have there.

Robbie,

That looks like a great spot you've gotten yourself into.

If only I could....

Frank it is a school. I thought I had died and gone to heaven when they gave me a key to the front door! We have big plans there. Next semester we are offering mandolin building and in the Spring of next year we are offering electric guitar building and violin making if all goes according to plans. My director has put in a proposal for funding to increase the size of the luthier area by double. Right now we are the nation's second largest woodworking school and not very well known.

Actually I didn't even notice that the super blonde pic was going up first. Wait a minute are we talking about shellac flakes here or something else? Having a female in the class certainly does make for better behavior on the guy's part. You gotta measure your words sometimes when it is joke telling time. She brought us donuts and milk throughout the semester as well. Needless to say I gave her an A in the class just for that!

Robbie is a great teacher (patient, funny, talented), and you should see some of the "WHOOPS what happened there" situations we run into, somehow he always finds a way to helps us figure it out ...and that is all true because I don't care about the 'A'

thanks! If you guys haven't figured it out....I'm not the blond (that is Laura). I'm the old gray haired woman sort of sticking my guitar in Chris's nose (not good)

It's fun!

Great Picts
It looks like you are training the future of lutherie.
So many different body styles, cutaways...etc
Can your students just pick what they want????

I like for my students to build at least two guitars with me before branching out and taking on things like cutaways etc. However, I have on occasion allowed a student to build their own design before completing two guitars.
