Very pretty, that. I have a few solidbody blanks (1-piece) with a similar level of colouration. Most tasty.

Hey guys thanks for all the kudos. Al I thought the same thing when I was cutting these sets. Reminded me of Ziricote figure. That set pictured is wiped with Naptha to depict how it would look under a finish. Z-Poxy would work wonders on this wood.

Billy, Its wood that has beautiful figure named after Bob "the Zootman" Cefalu. The old time fancy suits were called Zoot-suits!

Pretty stuff Don
What is the tap tone like? Compare it to something familiar.

I have built two guitars with about 10 years ago, 1 flamenco and 1 steel string 00 size. It can look very cool with the variagated stripe like figure. I remember it being fairly similar to Khaya, African "Mahogany".

It has been used for guitar making for years...it is commonly used for electric guitar bodies (both White and Black Limba). Some import electrics use limba as an alternative to Mahogany for necks.

It does look a lot like ziricote and almost like BRW also, very pretty wood!

It person, I don't think it looks anything like Ziricote or BRW, really. More like, well, black-line spalted white limba. It's a gorgeous wood in its own right, though. Even the white stuff, which some might find 'boring' can be fantastic looking if quartered. In that subtle, mahogany sort of way.

Check out David Myka's guitars for some great electric applications of Black Limba:

Great guy, great builder.

I'm begining to see the quality of the wood that's for sure, but the "Zoot suit = Cefalu" doesn't work. As I see it, he doesn't actually wear the same kind of agbada and buba as me, either. He dresses more like a..... Superhero!

Thanks for the explanation anyway.
