Recently, I've read reference to "New 1/4 Bracing" on Martin guitars. Specifically, the Norman Blake model.

Anyone know about this? Something new? Or a marketing ploy?

The Norm Blake is a 14 fret body with a 12 fet neck. It isn't that the bracing is new just modified to fit the modification.
Interesting enough I have a brace norman top. What to you need to know?

So are we saying the new martin has 1/4" bracing patern to acommadate the body/neck combination? What does it sound like? Fingerstyle guitar?

John,

Got a picture, or a layout diagram? That would be great!

I still don't get what the reference to "1/4" bracing" is suppossed to mean. 1/4" tall, wide? I've got a couple of Blakes's instructional DVD's, and he talks about favoring 12 fret guitars, and plays some old Hawaian's modified to 'spanish' style.

John, I also would be interesed in the bracing pattern for the Norman Blake. I make a 12 fret 000 based on a 14 fret body and would love to compare what I do with the Norman Blake. I use 1/4" bracing on all my guitars.
