i postered a while back that i was getting a mando by jupitercreek music well this is what it will be like
We've got:

- 5 string emando (low C for the 5th string)

- New body and headstock style as per the photo you attached

- Tasmanian blackwood body

- Queensland maple neck

- Jarrah fretboard

- Tuners - diecast Wilkinsons

- Pickup/s - 2 GFS blade style "Cool Vintage" Tele pickups with switches to
select single coil / humbucker for each plus switch to select neck / bridge
/ both

- Bridge, control plate and pickup mounting rings, or "Strat" style
scratchplate.

- Side mounted input jack

We could use either a chrome plated brass mounting ring (like the ones in
the attached pic) on each, or I could make up a kind of Strat style
scratchplate that would accommodate the pickups, switches and knobs all in
one. Maybe in black? That wouldn't change the price... the cost of making
the scratchplate would offset the cost of the mounting rings and the control
plate. Personally I like the look of the chrome plated mounting rings
against the blackwood, but it's personal taste

it will be around $400

When you say "5 string", do you litterally mean 5 strings or 5 pairs of
strings?

Also, what do you know about Jarrah? Never heard of it.

I kind of wondered about the pickups for something like an electric
mandolin - with either 4 or 5 pair of strings, you'd be hard pressed to
find 4 or 5 pole pickups. Makes sense that you'd use a blade pickup. I
half expected that the builder would have to make and wind the pickups
by hand!

I think the wiring to select the neck/bridge/both pickups is probably
more important on a mando than on a guitar...such a big change in tone
on a short-scaled instrument like that.

Look forward to some pics!
