HHG on plate joints, braces, bridge, and top to sides, Titebond on everything else.

I have read in Romanillos' book that for joining the back to the box and back braces with hide glue, after gluing the back on before roping it you just spread alchohol over the plate above the glue joints and then set it alight! The heat from the burning alchohol softens the glue and then you tighten down. A tub of lard to the first OLFer to give it a go!
On a related topic does not anthrax come from animal hides?
Also, I think that mad cow disease became mad luthier's disease long ago. Obviously, there's no cure.

Hesh... a African drum maker in New York got anthrax from skin heads he bought that were imported from Africa. They caught the disease early and he was cured. I'm sure you can find the story on the web somewhere .

Antrhax is endemic in cattle, IIRC, but it's hardly common in hides, etc. In fact, it's hardly common at all.
