Paul, What are the dimensions of these linings? I assume the total thickness is .25" as you said earlier. How wide are they? It seems that you would have to be very careful to glue them in at a flat plane before sanding the top or back radius due to the stiffness, so they would end up being thicker towards the butt end than at the neck is that right?

Have you ever considered making them two toned from different colored wood?John How38868.6394907407

John, right you are. They are 1" tall and .25" thick. There is a good deal more sanded from the upper bouts than the waist area. So the top of the linings are straight and the bottoms are profiled.
Yes, I've done two tone. I did spruce with mahogany caps. I wasn't totally nuts about the look though.
